Kenyatta National Hospital Children Learning Centre
The project started in April 2013. It’s founder, Dr. Caroline has done amazing work by making the lives of sick children a little better. All of them suffer from different types of cancer and have various crucial health issues. We saw their need for love and attention. Some of the children are abandoned and most cannot afford medicine or chemotherapy. The overwelming mood is one of compassion, love, and care.
Most of the users have problems paying hospital bills so the library does not charge any fees. The objective is to provide children with learning opportunities and distract them from hospital routines. The goal is to encourage them to socialize, take an interest in books and learn while in the hospital.
The library is not yet fully established, so they basically need everything. During our visit we were moved by the loving staff and by all those desperately ill children in need.
