Rebnass Community Library


This is a very small community library located near Chwele, Kenya. It has no access to electricity, no computers or internet. The library has only 200 books. The annual operating budget is less than USD $500 and they have never received outside aid or donations.
This library serves many local schools. One of the room has no furniture so the children sit on the floor to read.
The library staff is commited to improve the reading culture of the people, preserve the culture of Bukusu people and improve the illiteracy levels in a rural settings. They have plans to move to bigger space, but before this can happen, they really need more books and a few chairs.
